STAROBRNO-IGNIS BRUNENSIS – the main competition section of the 15th annual international fireworks festival accompanied by music is to be held on the surface of Brno Dam Lake (26 May – 6 June). The shore of the lake and the surrounding area create a pleasant natural amphitheatre for those watching the event, who get to enjoy a wonderful view of the fireworks. A platform with sound equipment is to be constructed in Rakovec Bay for true enthusiasts of the pyrotechnical arts (orders at www.ignisbrunensis.cz). In the introductory part of the in-competition fireworks performances, companies from the Czech Republic, Spain, Australia and China will be presenting their own two-minute firework design compositions set to the same piece of music chosen by the festival producer – a two-minute section of the composition “THE OLYMPIC SPIRIT” by John Williams has been chosen in this Olympic year. The festival is to open with a fireworks prelude in the park at Kraví Hora in the centre of Brno (25 May), while a fireworks finale over Špilberk Castle (8 June) is to bring the 15th year of this magnificent Central European show to a close.
All the firework performances begin at 10.30 p.m. Musical accompaniment is broadcast live by radio KISS HÁDY 88.3 FM. No matter where you are watching the fireworks from, all you need is a mobile radio to enjoy a perfect experience of fireworks theatre with musical accompaniment. All the in-competition firework performances last around 21 minutes, the prelude and finale around 15 minutes.
